I too had leaky eyes!
Belgium is basically the only European Nation that truly admires and appreciates American and Allied Forces for saving their country from Hitler!
My wife and I were in Germany back in ’93 for her father’s family reunion and we rented a car off the Rhine Mein Air Force Base where her Uncle a retired Air Force Non-Com was working as a Civil Servant along with his wife. Anna and I toured the countries that skirted Germany, well most of them, as I refused to go into a Communist Country as I feared of not coming back out, even with the open borders.
We spent two days and nights in Bastogne. The people immediately recognized we were Americans and you could hear them talking about us from across the street. They all greeted us and smiled from ear to ear, even today they still love the US.
In this video a young Belgian about five years old possibly as much as seven but if so, he is small for his age. The young man is in Uniform and stands at the ready, for a column of Canadian Troops to pass. When they come up on him he snaps to attention and salutes till the last troop passes…
Wouldn’t it be great if even adults could pay even half as much respect for our troops when they are met on the street!!!

I had an eye leak on this one.
A lone young Belgian waits to salute Canadian Troops who were attending a memorial service.
The troops are 100 yards away and the kid already has his fingers extended, joined, and ready to salute! I wish all youngsters could learn to appreciate their freedom like this kid.
The “Eyes Right” command is the highest compliment troops on parade can pay and is reserved for dignitaries at reviewing events.
Watch what they do for this little boy. How’s this for class?
